Brand Guidelines

WEEK 11

This week, I created the slides on Canva and formatted the overall structure and flow. While doing this, I realized the yellow actually clashes with the shades of orange frequently and I did use any of the blue shades. Hence, I redid my colour palette after exploring a few other options, and decided to keep the primary colours contrasting, and make the secondary colours different shades for the monochrome look, while including yellow which took the backseat as an accent colour.

Fig 1.3 Updated brand colours.

The reason I chose these colours is that I realized a monochrome colour scheme would look cohesive and safe as it would not clash (aside from the yellow). For the primary colours, I chose the signature vermillion colour and an off-white for contrast as it would be versatile for different situations. The secondary colours are made up of different tints of vermillion, and yellow acts as an accent colour.

WEEK 9

After working on some of my applications, I was able to make use of multiple elements that could be applied to my slides as well. Hence, I updated my slides using the new brand colours and various design elements to reflect the branding stronger.

FEEDBACK

Week 9:
Business card:
- try to form the ribbon squiggles using the ribbon from the logo or take it out

Envelope
- change envelope design because it’s blocking the address and stamp area
- can use a pattern in front and a window for inside
maybe can change placement to retain the idea

Letterhead
- add the brand info in the letterhead
- can use the long ribbon on other collateral
- add company info on invoice

Seating area
- although colour is there, the branding is not strong, can try to add some elements on the wall somehow

Complete digital presence.

Week 10:
Envelope:
- maybe lighten the pattern like the front of the card because it looks busy
- don’t fill the ribbon, keep it hollow like the one in the business card

REFLECTION

Experience
I quite enjoyed doing the applications as I finally got to see my brand come to life. It was quite enjoyable doing the mock-ups of everything and imagining it as if it was real. By applying my brand colours and design elements, I started to learn how to strongly convey my brand across different situations.

Observation
I noticed that many of my classmates’ brands had applied their branding in different object which was quite interesting to see.

Findings
I found out a few functions of Adobe Illustrator which I previously haven’t explored or come across which was very useful.
