PROGRESS AND IDEA EXPLORATION
Week 9
Figure 1.2 First three sketches for font ideas. (23/5/2022)
Figure 1.3 Sketches 4 and 5. (23/5/2022)
After Mr. Vinod told me to go with option 4, I digitized it in class and created some variants. Mr. Vinod said it had good consistency with shapes and all was good, except it was better to go with the slanted down option for the 'g' and 'y'.

Week 10
I did some final touchups as i realized there was inconsistency in the
height and width as I did not pay much attention to them. Hence, I
manually adjusted each stroke until they all matched up with each
other.
Now that it was good to go, I imported each letter into FontLab to do
more adjustments like kerning for each of them. Using FontLab was pretty
once you got the hang of it and I overcame some minor issues like the
filled bowls when I imported it.

FEEDBACK
Week 9
General feedback: Most are meh. Go with 4th option.
Specific feedback: Good shape consistency in the font. But use
2nd variant for the 'g' and 'y'.
Week 10
General feedback: All good.
Specific feedback: The comma with the long tail is better.
REFLECTION
Experience
We get to apply all the knowledge we learned to the actual assignment, which helps me remember them better after going through it.
Observations
I found out a lot of quirks in making a typeface, one of them being the 't' is always shorter than the cap line. Example: At.
Findings
I'm starting to enjoy typography more and more as I start to feel proud of my own work and the effort I put in them.
FURTHER READING
Fig 3.1 Typographic Design: Form and Communication
I chose this book because it had a lot of extra information on creating typefaces which helped a lot for this task and gave me extra insight. In chapter 2, The Anatomy of Typography, it recapped on the parts of a letterform and explained a lot about the proportions of the letterform. Unity of design in the type font was also touched on which helped me understand how to make my font looks more cohesive.
