PROGRESS AND IDEA EXPLORATION
Week 11
I actually sketched a few ideas before class but I ended up stuck in a 2 hour jam because of an accident, so I attended class in the car but did not get to present work.

Because I did not ask for feedback, I made a (terrible) choice of not asking for feedback so I went with the first one.
Week 12
After presenting the work, I was actually quite unsatisfied with it because
I was just stuck in creative block. But after a few days, I got an idea of
making the lettering resemble an ornament so I quickly made a sketch before
I forgot about it.

I realized the style in which I wrote the 'Merry' didn't match so I
ended up writing it in all caps too. But I had some empty space on
top that would not fill the circle, so I wanted to add a phrase
before it to compliment it. My other options were a tad too long
which would be too small to read, so I settled for "Have a Merry
Christmas".
I thought it was kind of awkward because the 'Have A' did not fit as
I thought, so I tried to use text and distort it to see how it would
fit. Still looked very stretched and weird so I ended up drawing
shapes to fill in the space and I guess it works.

FEEDBACK
Week 11
General feedback: The idea is fine, but its gonna be really small and might not be legible.
Specific feedback: The wording is not clear enough, but the shape is very Christmas-y. The lettering could be designed better and it needs a bit more clarity in the letterform. Can drag the hat nearer so it's more compact to maximize the space.
Week 12
General feedback: Better than the previous one, but still very flat.
Specific feedback: Make it a smooth S wave. If I decide to go with the no counter space version, make sure to do it with 'Christmas' also. The Taylor's logo as the top part of the ornament doesn't work.
Week 13
General feedback: Much better, go with the one with Taylor's logo below the 'M'.
Specific feedback: Try to add some tonality into the white so it's not too white.
REFLECTION
Experience
Making the sticker was quite fun because I had a lot of things to learn. First, I had to learn how to letter digitally. I used to do lettering for fun in high school just to pass time or to make cards for friend, but it was my first time doing lettering digitally so it felt foreign as I wasn’t drawing on paper. I also had to learn how to think of ways to fit the lettering in the silhouettes I wanted to make because my idea was to make the lettering form the silhouette.
Observations
I struggled a lot trying to choose an idea and to execute the idea properly. I hit a creative block halfway and just had no motivation to progress too. Took me a while to pick up the pace again but once I settled on the second idea, I managed to catch up with my peers.
Findings
I realized I got a little burnt out around Week 11 to Week 12, so the pace and quality of my work went down really badly. But I realized that once I get an idea down that I like, I work faster and am more motivated to finish it.

Bought this book 3 years ago from a student studying in The One Academy because I was curious about typography then. This book contains compilations of work done by many different companies and designers which bring numerals to a different level. This book is pretty much a hardcopy Pinterest where I gain inspiration and ideas from.
